This design program presents an iconic American home style in a disciplined, modern light. Continuous horizontal trim bands, expansive eaves and low pitched roof all reinforce this Prairie Style home's Midwest origins and Asian influences.
Characteristic of our commitment to daylighting and cross ventilation, the project uses oversized wood casement windows throughout. This home was built using Forest Stewardship Council certified wood for both framing lumber and hardwood floors. Reclaimed Douglas Fir timbers are employed to quietly define interior spaces. Capped by a 2 kilowatt photovoltaic system, this home served as the "cover house" for the 2007 Building Green + Solar Home Tour.
Designed for an active family of four, this 1870 square foot home employs an open, light-filled floor plan to confidently increase the perception of space. Brick, tile, windows, doors, cabinetry, wood species and paint relate to one another through design, detailing, color and texture - an intentional continuity that contributes to the home's sense of quality and warmth.
