Husaby
A traditional craftsman design program paired with contemporary detailing describes this 1800 square foot, 4-level home built atop a steep basalt outcrop. Designed for a three-time Olympic nordic skier and his Ironman Triathlete spouse, this sloping site provided just the right number of stair risers from garage to great room to gauge the effectiveness of a day's training session. Intentionally over-sized glazing captures expansive Bend city views and winter solar gain while exaggerated overhangs provide summertime shade. A bonus is the "Juliet" balcony off the top-level master suite. An ideal summer evening perch to watch the sun set over Central Oregon's High Desert.
